Please find attached the latest news about our “Friendly Phonecalls” service. We have increased our capacity to run this with a bank of staff and volunteers ready to make phonecalls to help lift the spirits of local older people. For those shielding alone this is a really tough time and we want to reach as many as possible to offer this free service so please feel free to share!
I’ve also attached a poster showing our current services for older people in Somerset and North Somerset which are all free. If you were able to, it would be fantastic if you could print this off and put it on display in your locality so we can reach and help as many people as possible.
Our new website https://ageuksomersetcoronavirus.org.uk tries to list as many local groups as possible (on the In Your Area page) that will help older people in their area, also food services. If you notice that any are missing please do let me know and I’ll add them. Thanks.
On a lighter note, we were running a Balls for Boredom offer – free wool for the over 60s but we’ve run out already and have a plea out to local wool shops for donations. It’s on our new website: https://ageuksomersetcoronavirus.org.uk/things-to-do/create/balls-for-boredom/Age-UK-Somerset-Services-during-Coronavirus-A4-Poster
