Volunteer Marshall request for Great Somerset Memory Walk – Sun 15 Sept 2019

VOLUNTEER MARSHALLS NEEDED

for the Great Somerset Memory Walk Coastal Challenge – Sunday 15 September 2019

https://www.somerset-hospice.org.uk/Event/great-somerset-memory-walk-coastal-challenge

We are looking for 4-8 Volunteer Marshalls to help at the Hinkley/Stoford checkpoint and other checkpoints on our Great Somerset Memory Walk. The aim of the event is to put on an enjoyable and challenging walk to raise much needed funds towards St. Margaret’s Hospice.

The memory walk starts at Minehead between 8am and 9am on Sunday 15 September 2019 and participants can choose between a 12.5 or 25 mile route finishing at either Kilve (on a newly opened stretch of coastal path) or Steart Marshes respectively.

The Checkpoints/feed stations require 2-4 people to man a station where drinks and food are available to walkers (squash and biscuits) and to check them off a list as they come by. Number of walkers expected: 100-300

What to bring: camping chairs, cover from sun/rain, food & water.

The marshall shifts are approximately 4 hours each; but if we get more volunteers, then the shifts can be reduced. More precise timings, a route map and further instructions will be given to volunteers before the event.
